They say patience is a virtue. Well, I'm working on it. I'm actually extremely patient with people, but when it comes to art, no patience. I was always a creative kid, but the older I got, the less patience I had for art projects. This is one reason why I became a photographer. Instant gratification. When I became an art major in college, my patience was tested in my various drawing and painting classes. Judging by the apathy I felt towards these courses, I definitely chose the right medium with photography. I didn't have the patience or interest to learn the techniques of painting and drawing, let alone to work on one piece for an extended period of time. But with a camera, every time I framed a shot, or lit a scene, I was fueling my creative fire. Instant gratification.
People people. Yep, I am definitely one of those. So besides the creative fulllment, I love the people aspect of my chosen career. Getting your photo taken is not the way most people want to spend their day. So I see that half of my job is to make my subject feel at ease and comfortable with me, so hopefully they'll loosen up and actually have some fun as my muse for the day.
While I consider my job to be fun, exciting, and work that doesnžt feel like work, I do take it very seriously. I take a great deal of pride in my imagery, and am not happy unless I am convinced that you'll be happy. Therefore I have taken the time and effort to educate and properly and equip myself for creating the most stunning photos that I possibly can.
